Do you remember times when you have been excited that someone arrived at your house? Perhaps it was Mum or Dad arriving home, or grandparents arriving, or a friend coming to visit. Do you remember shouting out that that special person was here? Or maybe you have been excited to see someone like a famous musician, or TV star or sports person. Remember how excited you felt? How it made your day? How you talked about it with others?

What if you received news that the most senior person in the country wanted to come and visit you at your house? The Prime Minister or President or King or Queen.

I’m sure you would be curious as to why, you’d think about what you would wear and say, and I’m sure you’d clean the house – I know I would!

What if someone even more important and influential came to visit you? What if God, the most supreme spiritual being in the universe, came to visit you? You might not believe in God, but imagine for a moment if God who is described in the Bible came to visit you.

How would he come? I doubt he would come in a vehicle, after all, he is greater than time, space and the physical. Would he send an angel, like he did to Mary, to Joseph and to many others in times past, to appear before you? Would a fire appear yet it not burn and he speak through it, like he did to Moses?

He is likely to come in a way you are not expecting, after all, he has come to earth many times in ways people haven’t expected. Remember the birth of Jesus?  That was one of those times. The Bible gives examples of God speaking to humans in the form of a whisper, in a voice, in a dream, in a vision, in thoughts – personal ways, sometimes in tangible ways and sometimes intangible/spiritual ways. It doesn’t matter what form God uses to speak to you, He will definitely speak to you.

When would he come? Well actually, he is already here! He already knows everything about you, every thought, every action. You exist because he created you. God is spirit, so you probably aren’t aware of him, but he is certainly aware of you. He knows you intimately. Whether you believe in him or not, doesn’t change this.

So how come you haven’t met him yet? Well, in all likelihood, you probably have, and you didn’t know it.

God makes himself known to us and then he waits for us to enter into a conversation with him, to engage with him, for us to ask questions and enquire and seek out who He is and what He desires of us. He doesn’t force himself on us, because he created us with a free will to choose what we will believe.

He has so much he wants to share with us on a personal level. God is relational and wants to have a relationship with each and every one of us.

What would he say? If you gave God one chance to say something to you, it would include him saying ‘I Love you’. I know, because He has said it to me and to many other people that I have met. There are no words to adequately describe what it feels like to experience God’s love. It is so much more than human love.

A relationship with God offers complete acceptance of who you are, forgiveness, healing, wholeness, purpose, peace…and so much more.

Just like the excitement of seeing someone special or famous, meeting God is just as, and even more, exciting and awesome.

God is here! He is waiting for you to respond to him, he is already speaking to you.
