As we saw in the post about the Existence of God, God is uniquely three simultaneous, co-existing persons in one – the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit.

Consistent with the character of God, the Holy Spirit is God (Acts 5:3-4), is eternal (Hebrews 9:14), is everywhere (Psalm 139:7-10), is all knowing (1 Corinthians 2:10-11), has created us (Job 33:4), gives us life (2 Corinthians 3:6), loves (Romans 15:30) and speaks to us (Acts 8:29, Acts 11:12, Acts 13:2).

Before you put your faith in and enter into a personal relationship with God, it is the Holy Spirit who is speaking to your spirit, presenting the truth of God, exposing how God views you and prompting you to action.

If you enter into a personal relationship with God, one of the most awesome things that happens is that the Holy Spirit, God’s own spirit, comes and actually dwells within you.

Jesus said these words to his disciples in explaining what would happen after his death and resurrection: “If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.” (John 14:15-17)

Elsewhere in the Bible it states…Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst? (1 Corinthians 3:16)

Think about that for a moment…God himself comes and dwells, resides, fills your inner being. He is present in you.

As a result you are aware of God in a very real and personal way, resulting in a personal relationship – one where you communicate with God and He with you.

God is not dormant, but he is alive, and through his Spirit, He does a fantastic transformation and renewal of your spirit and soul.

The Bible says…For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17)

God’s Spirit will transform your inner being resulting in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. (Galatians 5:22-23)

The Holy Spirit will influence your thoughts, attitudes and actions. You will find yourself being increasing interested in and motivated by the things that are important to God. Through the Holy Spirit, God takes you on a journey of discovery of who He is. Experiencing God in such a real and vibrant way is truly amazing. No wonder He describes it as coming alive spiritually.

God is truly awesome. He created us, loves us, sent His Son, Jesus to remove our sin and redeem us, and gives us His indwelling presence through the Holy Spirit so we can know Him, communicate with Him, become more like Him and live an abundant, vibrant, purposeful life.

Will you accept His invitation to come alive spiritually?
