Wasn’t Jesus just another person born into the world?
If you don’t understand who Jesus was, who was born 2000 years ago, you will miss a significant, life-changing and life-saving opportunity.
God entered the world in the form of a human when Jesus was born.
God consists of three entities in one, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. God has always existed.
Jesus is God the Son. Jesus is God. Jesus existed prior to taking on human form and Jesus continues to exist today.
How can I be 100% confident of this?
1.I read this for myself in the Bible, God’s instruction book to us. The Bible presents the truth about who God is.
2. I have met, and continue to meet, God for myself and know that He exists. The verse from the Bible where God says “you will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart” is true, I can testify to it personally.
3. I have met, and continue to meet, Jesus for myself. Because of my faith in what He did for me when He came to earth, I am accepted by God and enjoy a relationship with Him.
Jesus came to earth for a reason, to provide the only way for us humans to know God personally. Yes, Jesus lived a ‘good’ life, and He was different to those around him, in his speech and behaviour, for example, he healed people and he even made people come back to life again who had died, just by speaking. But even more significant than his ‘good life’ is what Jesus accomplished on earth through his own death and resurrection back to life. Jesus didn’t need to die, because He was God. Jesus died for a reason, the very reason Jesus came in human form to earth. He was paying a penalty, undergoing the punishment, that was ours to pay.
All humans are selfish and separated, because of our selfishness and sinful nature, from God.
We have been alienated from God, so much so, that many people don’t even acknowledge or recognise God. God wants to have a close relationship with every person, which is now possible because of what Jesus did when He came to earth.
In essence:
- We are alienated from God because of our selfishness and sinful nature – there is a great divide between us and God.
- Jesus in his death, paid the penalty that God demands from every human being, the penalty for our sin and selfishness
- Jesus’ death for us was accepted by God as meeting His requirements for that penalty – our penalty was paid in full
- We need to personally acknowledge and accept Jesus death on our behalf – the payment of our penalty for our sin is not automatically assigned to us – we have a choice to believe and accept this or not
Once we do this, God forgives us of our sin, removes the divide between us, gives us eternal life, resides within us, renews us and transforms us to be someone characterised by love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. We have a personal, real relationship with God that will last for both our lifetime on earth and beyond when we physically die – for eternity.
Without Jesus coming to earth, we would still be alienated from God, for eternity, with no hope or possibility of being accepted by God.
Jesus was not just another person born into this world. Jesus is God, who entered this world to meet with you. He crossed the divide and extends an invitation for you to experience His love, forgiveness and awesome nature. Having a personal relationship with God, where He enters into your life and talks and walks with you through life is truly transformative, He enables the best version of you, and euphoric, with such deep peace and joy.
So how do you start on the journey to meet God?
Ask God to come and reveal Himself to you. It can be something as simple as saying either to yourself or out loud, “God, I don’t know who you are. I want to understand who you are and what you require of me. Come and reveal yourself to me”
Start reading the Bible. I suggest starting with the book of John in the New Testament. As you read and reflect on what it says, God will start to speak to you through the words you read and your thoughts.
Find a Christian to talk to, who can answer any questions you have.
Why Jesus? Because Jesus is God who chose to come to earth in human form in order to reach out to you and I. The birth of Jesus into the world is the most significant birth in all of history.
